Bernie Barnaby started running in 1985 to get fit for football, but soon gave up football after being persuaded to run for Hillingdon AC
and G.E.C. (North London). Over the years he has run and coached for Watford Joggers, St. Albans Striders and Fairlands Valley Spartans.
At present is a member of Garden City Runners. Bernie was athletics track manager at
Westminster Lodge, St. Albans for two years.
He has sucessfully coached individuals and groups since 1987. Bernie qualified as a UK Athletics Level 2
Endurance coach in November 2003. He gained a UK Athletics Leader's Award for Fitness in Running
and Walking in January 2004. In November 2006 he completed a UK Athletics Strength and Conditioning module and
in December 2006, a UK Athletics Level 2 Speed module.
At present Bernie coaches Mornington Chasers every third Thursday at Parliament Hill Athletics Track or Primrose Hill.
